I keep hearing about film going out of stock, so I decided to take a look at B&H's inventory as we swing into summer. I double checked this with two dealers I converse with regularly, and they basically said the same thing. This corresponds to what I started to notice: slide films tend to be very spotty in terms of stock. They are produced in small batches and sell out quickly, meaning that there are long periods where you can't obtain them. Print films, on the other hand, tend to be reliably available, and there's often a reasonable alternative when they do become temporarily available. Given that most dealers can provide digital scans for both print and slide film, it seems to me that the market is saying that they mostly want negatives and physical prints. I'll look into this more in the future.
